Exhibitors who participated in the 2017 festival, please read:

Last year the festival committee, through Bel Air Parks and Recreation, applied for and received a tourism grant from Harford County Economic Development to be used to increase attendance at the festival, as part of their effort to increase tourism in the county in general. The grant enabled us to more than double our advertising over previous years.

In April we will be applying for the grant once again, and as previous awardees we will be asked to provide information regarding the noticed effects of the 2017 grant. It was reported by members of the committee that the festival appeared to have a larger crowd of attendees than the year before and that the crowd remained very strong till later in the day than usual. We were informed that the shuttle buses transported more people to and from the show than in any previous year and that the concession stands operated by Parks and Rec sold out of food (In fact, they sold out in mid-afternoon!).

In an effort to provide as much applicable data as possible when we apply for the 2018 grant, we would appreciate your taking a moment to briefly share your thoughts regarding attendance and your sales last September. On your festival application, please indicate whether you thought the crowd was up, down, or the same as the previous event; and whether your sales from the show that day (including orders after the event that came in from festival attendees) were up, down, or the same as those the previous year. If you know the percentage of increase or decrease in sales from the previous year, that would be very helpful. (We are not asking for the dollar amount of your sales. In the grant application this sales information will be stated as: ## % of exhibitors reported an increase in sales over the previous year, with increases as high as ##%. No exhibitor names will be used in the grant application!)

Another area of information that would support our receiving a 2018 relates to whether the festival boosts the local economy. Please also let us know if you ate in a local restaurant while you were in Bel Air for the festival, and if so, how many meals; as well as if you stayed in a motel in Harford County (if you are from out of the area).

If you have additional comments regarding the 2017 event that you believe would be pertinent to the grant application, please write them on the back of your application!

Thank you in advance for any information you can share with us that will support our application for the tourism grant! The goal of the festival committee is that our exhibitors enjoy strong sales and have a great day. We believe that obtaining increased advertising through this grant can help us assure that happens, without increasing the booth fee!
